This tour gives you a step by step narrated tour of Montmartre from the famous Moulin Rouge nightclub to the hilltop Sacré Coeur cathedral. You will hear about many of the famous artists who lived in this part of Paris. Come explore the Bohemian side of Paris with us!
Known simply as ‘the butte’ to locals, the bohemian enclave of Montmartre captures the artistic soul of Paris like no where else. This small mountain overlooking the city with spectacular views and crowned with the gleaming white Church of the Sacred Heart was once little more than a small farming village until the 19th century, when a group of bohemians and artists chose to make it their home.
The area quickly became the center of the artistic world drawing artists such as Picasso, Renoir, Dali and Toulouse-Lautrec. And it was her that rich and poor alike, artists, businessmen, aristocrats, bankers, farmers and even royalty came together to rub shoulders on the wild outskirts of Paris in a great swell of joyous humanity that perspired and inspired during a time that became known as the “Beautiful Era”, La Belle Époque.
